I’ve always been a fan of the Jurassic Park movies. Or at least, I thought I was. What I am a fan of is the first one. There’s always something to be said about first. Nothing is as good as the… It’ll never be like the…. Wouldn’t it be nice to be…

It’s all true. It’s why it’s called “first” impressions.

I’m watching Jurassic World Rebirth at the moment and I just can’t believe how bored I am, or how boring the movie is. But ScarJo. Well, at least there’s that. She always performs, and it’s no different here. But a title or great actress just can’t do it all.

Now I’ve just paused the movie at 2/3 of the way through, so all the action scenes are going to be coming up, in what has been a depressingly boring movie so far. I sit here on the night of Thanksgiving just trying to get through it and I thought if I finally watched this movie, it would at least chew through the time. Alas, no. The time seems to stretch interminably like the days of my slowly evolving arc into seniority. By seniority, I mean, literally, a senior. I’m 55 years old as I write this and though it could be said I’m a terrible writer, I do it because it gives me something to do. I just wish that sometimes to go along with that I could at least be writing about something I could get excited about. But it’s just not happening.

Sure, all the beats are there. But I’ve seen all of this before. The story line is just a rehashing of the first movie so far. I will admit my expectations were subverted when the tyrannosaur didn’t get beat up by some bigger dino, but I’m betting Mr. Rex will probably be the ultimate savior, again.

I like many other children and man/woman children, have always been a fan of the dino’s. I mean come on, what’s not to like about them. Continuing to credit the dino’s we can even say a dinosaur has never even eaten a human, and I suppose this should be something we should all be thankful for. But I’m pretty sure we all take that for granted but if there’s someone out there who’s got a real phobia of being eaten by a dinosaur, please let me know, because this article is dedicated to you.

The CGI dino’s aren’t bad. I thought the big brachiosaurs or brontosaurs or whatever things had unbelievably long and whip like tails, but you know, that could be incredibly real. So there are parts of the movie I am enjoying, or at least am liking some of the things I am seeing. As far as the movie? Well, maybe if this was your introduction to Jurassic Park, maybe you’ll really enjoy it and be amazed at the things you see and the drama it’s attempting to portray. For me, it’s just another Jurassic Park movie which I’m watching because I was young when I saw the first one and it left an impression on me. I can’t honestly say I’ve seen all of the Jurassic Park movies, but I’ve seen the first one, the one with the Marvel space dude, and now this one. I’m pretty sure I saw the second one too and if I had written an article about that one, it would probably be this article.

I guess the best thing I can say about Jurassic Park Rebirth is that the actors are trying, and doing a good job with what they have, but as far as the movie goes, it just reminds me of the first one. I suppose that’s a good thing too. So if your a fan of the dinosaurs then it’ll be a no brainer to watch this installment because you will see some things like. But if you’re looking for a Jurassic Park story you want to be excited about, you’ve probably already seen it.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I truly appreciate it.

  1. Well,it subverted my expectations a little more than I thought it would and all in all I guess I’m glad I saw it. Great acting, great locations, great cinematography, and the classic music. Not bad.
