NOTE: If you’re ‘already intrigued, visit the Mysterious Middle East YouTube channel now:

One of my favorite YouTube channels I turn to for a unique and cultural perspective on fringe theories is the Mysterious Middle East YouTube channel. I have been following the channel for the past few years. The channel features videos’ on all manner of Middle East mythology told by someone native to the region. The paranormal and cultural myths are areas’ of interest to mine and it’s nice to watch videos’ from different creators the world over talking about things I find interesting with the added benefit of the cultural viewpoint. Additionally I find that I am able to fill in the holes in my own knowledge on various subject matter thereby augmenting or allowing me to form good independent opinions and expanding my own knowledge.

The channel is very professionally set up from beautiful and consistent thumbnails, an excellent command of the English language by a non native English speaker, and wonderfully edited videos’ which I can continue to add the ‘professional’ adjective to. The writing is exceptionally scripted and though the content of most of the video’s are of a “fantastical” nature, I found them to be highly entertaning as well as educational much of the time.

No doubt you’ve heard of the semi meme Afghan Giant which a squad of the United States Armed Forces during the Afghanistan occupation encountered. If you have come across the story no doubt you’ll know men were killed but in the end they were able to take down the brutish giant. I think the United States military took the giant stateside to examine it’s origins and biology but to be quite honest this was a story I didn’t follow at the time or really since. I don’t personally know much of this story but that’s mostly because I haven’t seen the episode where Mysterious Middle East talks about about. Maybe now’s a good time to put in the watch time for that presentation:

One of the interesting and educational videos’ I saw not too long ago was about a “lost” city by the name of “Irem”. I knew nothing about this subject going in on first viewing of that video. Of all the sand in the deserts throughout the middle east surely there are cities hidden or buried out in the great expanses of never ending sand dunes and the title Irem: A Lost City of Giants, Djinn or Nephilim? (Documentary) talks about this subject including a historical narrative which at the very least establishes “Irem” being a real city lost in vast sands of a middle eastern desert.

Currently there are about 64 titles on the channel and the subjects range from ufo sightings, specific myths of various countries such as Yemen, Bahrain, even something related to the Irish, to biblical lore including the angels (or demons?) buried under the Euphrates river which has become a bit of a hot topic in and of itself on YouTube. I’ve seen many videos’ from various other creators on YouTube talking about this subject however the telling of the story by the Mysterious Middle East channel includes another great video with great content specifically about “Irem”.

A lot of the video’s on the channel discuss a great deal of paranormal content but I think we get better context or at least maybe better information from a narrator who natively grew up in the area and for lack of better terminology to me it seems a bit more authentic. Either way the material is highly entertaining nonetheless and I find occasionally the video’s lead me to rabbit holes to explore which on its own merit is oftentimes a good start to an explorative and fun journey.

So if you’re into the paranormal with a middle eastern bent Mysterious Middle East is a channel which has plenty of video’s (60+ at the time of this writing) with a lot of exciting and fun stories to listen to and you might even learn something from the channels videos’ and the great narration by the content creator.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I urge you to check out Mysterious Middle East YouTube channel yourself if the subject matter interests you. You can find the link to the creators YouTube page at the beginning of this article.
